Obstetric Services

Dr. Elizabeth with a “baby” she delivered 13 years earlier

We take pride in how many families have had multiple generations of family members delivered by our practice. There is no greater compliment than a mom having a great experience with us, then 20-30 years later recommend us to the daughter we delivered to care for her during her own pregnancy. Having multiple generations of WMC patients in a room for a delivery is a wonderful experience.

Women’s Medical Center is committed to you having a safe and healthy pregnancy, while working with you to individualize your experience. We will strive to help tailor your experience to both your wants and your needs. Pregnancy is usually a happy and exciting time, but also can be scary and confusing. We will be there with you for all of it. For us, it is important that we create an environment where you feel comfortable to ask questions when you are having a problem or don’t understand something. We will also help you understand what’s going on, and also hope that you will help us to understand what’s going on with you, so together we can make good decisions for you and your baby. We want this generation of women to know why we do what we do, and why we recommend what we do. We believe that mutual understanding is the key to good Obstetric care.

All of our doctors are Board Certified Ob GYN’s with full privileges at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. All our Midwives are Board Certified Nurse Midwives. We work as a team to provide you the best of all worlds, as natural as you want and when things go well, but also the very best in modern obstetric care when you need it. We take pride in our vaginal delivery and VBAC rates, but also take pride in the quality of care we provide when surgical delivery and Emergency Obstetric care is required.

Because of our commitment to your safety, we dedicate a provider during the work day to be able to be with you at the hospital. Usually one of our midwives will have no office schedule, so they can be there for you in Labor and Delivery while you are in active labor. And we have 24/7 night and weekend coverage so that a member of the WMC team will be there for you for your delivery. And if you are High Risk, we have regular team meetings to help discuss your care and make sure we all know your special needs.

There are also times some patients need special TLC. If you had a scary experience with your first delivery, we can help you figure out what we can do to help you get through those fears with your next pregnancy. Need an extra hand to hold during your epidural, we will get it for you. Need to understand better why you had a C-Section the first time, we will try to figure it out and explain it for you, and help you figure out what makes sense to your current pregnancy.

And when unexpected obstetric emergencies occur, and as some of our patients can tell you, we will drop everything else and get you all the help you need, for as long as you need it, when you need it. There are reasons why we have repeat generations of women coming to WMC, we take care of our patients.
