Unlike routine prenatal ultrasounds, 4D ultrasound imaging is not used for medical diagnosis. It is designed to enhance your pregnancy experience and help you feel more connected to your growing baby.
What Is a
4D Ultrasound?
A 4D ultrasound creates a realistic, three-dimensional image of your baby in real time. While traditional 2D ultrasounds show flat, black-and-white images, 4D technology fills in facial features and movement, allowing you to see:
- Facial expressions and features
- Hands, feet, and body movements
- Smiling, yawning, or thumb-sucking
Many families describe it as the first time their baby truly feels real.
When Is the Best Time
for a 4D Ultrasound?
The ideal time for a 4D ultrasound is between 30–32 weeks of pregnancy. At this stage, your baby has developed fuller facial features but still has enough room to move, making it easier to capture clear images.

Your Images to Keep and
Share
After your scan, you’ll receive:
- 4–5 printed images to take home
- A flash drive with all images, perfect for sharing with loved ones or posting online
If your baby isn’t cooperating during the session, we’re happy to bring you back at no additional cost to try again.
Safety You Can Feel Confident About
4D ultrasound uses the same soundwave technology as standard prenatal ultrasounds and carries no additional risk. Even high-risk pregnancies often involve multiple ultrasounds each week without harm.
Your scan is performed by Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) with extensive experience in pregnancy imaging. If anything unexpected is seen, our team follows ethical guidelines to ensure you are directed to the appropriate provider for follow-up.
How to Prepare for Your Scan
To help get the best images:
- Drink plenty of water for a few days before your appointment
- Eat a small snack shortly before arriving
Hydration and a little extra energy can encourage your baby to move and show their features.
