I Think I’m Pregnant: What Should I Do Next?
Finding out you may be pregnant can bring a mix of emotions – excitement, uncertainty, anxiety, or simply a lot of questions. Whether you’ve received a positive home pregnancy test or you’re experiencing symptoms that make you wonder if you’re pregnant, knowing what to do next can help you feel more confident about the road ahead.
At Women’s Medical Center, we’re here to help guide you through those important first steps.
Confirming a Pregnancy
If you’ve taken a home pregnancy test and received a positive result, your next step is often confirming the pregnancy and determining how far along you are.
Women’s Medical Center can provide pregnancy confirmation visits and early ultrasound evaluations to help establish pregnancy dating and assess how the pregnancy is progressing. If you’re unsure when you conceived or how many weeks pregnant you may be, an ultrasound can often provide important answers and help determine your next steps.
You do not need to be an established patient to schedule a pregnancy confirmation appointment. New patients are welcome.

When Should You Call Right Away?
While many early pregnancies progress normally, some symptoms should not be ignored.
If you experience:
- Vaginal bleeding
- Significant cramping or pelvic pain
- Severe abdominal discomfort
- Symptoms that feel unusual or concerning
you should contact our office promptly.
Women’s Medical Center offers same-day appointments for many urgent gynecologic and early pregnancy concerns. Our team can often perform an ultrasound and additional testing to help determine what is happening and recommend appropriate care.

Care for Early Pregnancy Complications
Not every pregnancy follows the path you expected, and compassionate care is especially important during uncertain situations.
Women’s Medical Center can evaluate and manage many early pregnancy concerns, including:
- Miscarriage
- Suspected ectopic pregnancy
- Early pregnancy bleeding
- Pelvic pain during pregnancy
- Questions about pregnancy viability
Your evaluation may include ultrasound imaging, laboratory testing, hormone level monitoring, and a physical examination to help determine the health and location of the pregnancy.
Our goal is to help you understand what is happening, answer your questions, and provide appropriate care during a difficult time.
Transitioning to Prenatal Care
Women’s Medical Center is a gynecology-focused practice and does not provide ongoing prenatal care or delivery services.
Once your pregnancy has been confirmed and initial evaluations are complete, we’ll help connect you with a trusted obstetric provider for the remainder of your pregnancy. Our team can provide referrals and help you establish care with a practice that fits your needs.
You don’t have to navigate those next steps alone. We’re happy to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
Staying Connected Throughout Your Pregnancy Journey
Although Women’s Medical Center does not provide routine prenatal care, many patients choose to stay connected with our practice throughout their pregnancy.
Some families return later in pregnancy for elective 3D ultrasound imaging. Gender determination ultrasounds may be available as early as 16 weeks, while the ideal timeframe for detailed 3D images is typically between 28 and 30 weeks.
After delivery and completion of postpartum care, patients are also welcome to return to Women’s Medical Center for their ongoing gynecologic healthcare needs. Our providers can evaluate concerns such as postpartum depression, breastfeeding-related issues, menstrual changes, pelvic pain, and other gynecologic conditions that may arise after childbirth.
